The Belgian video game market is divided between large online retailers, specialized shops, and second-hand platforms. Each channel offers distinct advantages in terms of catalog, pricing, and after-sales service. Knowing where to look for video games and gaming accessories in Belgium helps avoid unpleasant surprises, particularly regarding compatibility, delivery times, and the software support duration of connected devices.
Cyber Resilience and Connected Gaming Accessories: A New Purchase Criterion
Since September 11, 2026, the European regulation on cyber resilience (CRA) applies to connected devices sold in the European Union. Manufacturers must now report certain vulnerabilities and security incidents more quickly. Most security obligations will come into full effect starting December 11, 2027.
For gamers, this directly concerns wireless headsets, connected mice, firmware-upgradable keyboards, and controllers with companion apps. The CRA requires a clearly indicated security update duration at the time of purchase. Before comparing prices, checking this support period becomes relevant, especially for high-end devices with a lifecycle extending over several years.
Specifically, a gaming headset sold with two years of guaranteed software support offers less long-term value than a competing model covered for five years, even at a slightly higher price. Belgian specialized shops are beginning to display this information, whereas generalist marketplaces often relegate it to detailed technical specifications.
Among the online retailers offering an extensive gaming catalog in Belgium is https://www.1gameshop.be/, which lists games and accessories with delivery across Belgian territory.
Specialized Gaming Shops in Belgium: What Sets Them Apart
Large retailers like Media Markt or platforms like Coolblue cover a wide range of products. Their strength lies in logistics: fast delivery, established return policies, and significant stock on the most common references.
Specialized shops occupy a different niche. Some retailers focus on specific segments: custom gaming PCs, personalized Battle Beaver controllers, limited edition Razer peripherals. This type of store allows customers to test equipment before purchase or order a configuration assembled according to precise specifications.
Pêle-Mêle, better known for its second-hand books, also offers a second-hand video game section covering several generations of consoles. Here, you can find recent PS5 titles as well as Nintendo 3DS cartridges, at prices significantly lower than new.
Criteria for Choosing Between Generalist Retailers and Specialized Shops
- The desired catalog: generalists better cover recent releases and standard accessories, while specialists offer niche references (custom controllers, specific PC components)
- The need for technical advice: a specialized shop generally provides more in-depth support on compatibility between peripherals or PC assembly
- The warranty and return policy: large retailers apply standardized procedures, while specialists may be more flexible on hardware after-sales service
Second-Hand and Refurbished Gaming in Belgium
The Belgian second-hand gaming market is particularly active. 2dehands (Tweedehands) remains the dominant platform for transactions between individuals. You can regularly find complete gaming PC setups, PS5 consoles with controllers and games included, or simulation peripherals like Thrustmaster wheels.
Second-hand allows for substantial savings on gaming equipment, but it requires some precautions. For consoles, checking the condition of the optical drive and the firmware version is necessary. For controllers, wear on the analog sticks (drift) is the most common and least visible defect in photos.
Games-Zone also offers a second-hand section with quality control that falls between individual sellers and new products.
Points of Caution When Buying Second-Hand
- Check the regional compatibility: some physical games imported from outside Europe may cause issues on consoles configured for the Belgian market
- Request original proof of purchase: it often conditions the remaining manufacturer warranty
- For second-hand gaming PCs, require a stress test (benchmark) before the transaction to detect potential thermal or stability issues
Delivery and Logistics: Amazon vs. Local Players
Amazon announced at the end of August 2026 an expansion of its same-day delivery in Belgium, with a threshold set at 20 euros. This development alters the competitive balance for impulse purchases: a game spotted in the morning can arrive the same evening, whereas most Belgian specialized shops deliver within two to three working days.
Coolblue, on the other hand, offers next-day delivery on almost its entire gaming catalog, with a logistics network rooted in Belgium and the Netherlands. The speed of delivery should not overshadow price discrepancies: on gaming accessories, specialized shops often have more competitive prices than generalist platforms on niche references.
For digital purchases, key platforms like Eneba or Steam sales remain popular alternatives among Belgian PC gamers. Belgian community forums frequently mention these channels for PC titles, with prices often lower than physical versions.
The final choice depends on the type of product sought. A recent AAA game in physical version is best found at the lowest price on marketplaces. A specific peripheral or a custom PC configuration justifies going through a Belgian specialized shop, if only for local technical support and compliance with the new European cyber resilience requirements.
