A social housing application is not permanent. It must be renewed each year on the national portal. Without this update, the application status becomes inactive, and an inactive application ceases to appear in AL’in.
In practical terms, this means that the candidate may have a functional AL’in account, alerts set up, and still see no offers matching their profile. The cause is not a bug in the platform, but an outdated reference tax income or a tax notice not submitted on the government portal.
For 2026, the update involves three actions: entering the reference tax income from the 2025 tax notice (2024 income) on the registration site, uploading the corresponding document, and then confirming the update on the AL’in side by clicking the dedicated button. Without these three steps, the application is automatically canceled.

From a mobile browser, the AL’in dashboard displays the status of the application. The mention “active application” confirms that synchronization with the national portal is functioning. Any other mention (expired, awaiting update) blocks access to offers.
The synchronization time between the two platforms varies. After an update on the national portal, several days may pass before the status refreshes on AL’in. User feedback on this point varies, with some users reporting recognition within a few hours, while others experience delays of more than a week.
Furnished housing on AL’in: an unknown option for employees in mobility
AL’in is not limited to traditional social housing (T2, T3 empty for long-term rental). The platform also lists furnished housing intended for employees in professional mobility. Starting a job in a new city, temporary assignments, relocations: these situations justify a quick accommodation solution that the traditional social housing stock does not cover well.
These furnished offers appear in the AL’in search results alongside traditional housing. The filter by property type allows them to be isolated. However, their availability remains uneven across regions, with a stronger concentration in large urban areas where the demand for professional mobility is high.
Applying from your smartphone: what changes in practice
The application process on mobile is identical to that on a computer. After spotting an offer, the candidate can apply with one click if their application is complete and active. The platform then forwards the application to the relevant social landlord.
Two limitations persist on mobile. Uploading supporting documents redirects to the national portal, which remains less user-friendly on small screens. And notifications of new offers do not come through a native application but via email, requiring regular checking of the inbox or setting up manual alerts.
The AL’in mobile experience fulfills its primary function: allowing an employee to view offers and apply without being in front of a computer. The frictions lie less in the interface than in the dual architecture of the national portal/AL’in, which requires juggling between two environments to maintain an operational application. Keeping the application active and supporting documents up to date remains the primary condition for a successful search.
